She didn't have a power in the first Pulse, most of the characters didn't. I had always considered giving her a power later in some kind of accident. My other options for a power were to make her a battery (and one of the people they'd fight against), or to make her mimic (shape-shifter).
Something about this just seemed to really fit her.
My reasoning here was that I didn't want anyone to be too powerful. The cast so far are either on the lower end of the power scale, or have some kind of problems. Also if I ever wanted Grace to be more powerful, it's an easy choice what improves.
Will we be getting back to the main story arc anytime soon? As I recall, these are all replacements being trained to replace the original superheroes killed in the introduction, and the perpetrator is still at large.
There's some training in this chapter, and then next chapter is about them starting to be sent out on missions. Both this and the last chapters have been kind of character development or introduction chapters, and not chapters that contribute directly to the goal. I am kind of dragging that part of the story out, but I kind of feel like that's really kind of the end of the series. ...or I mean the series leads to a repeat of the beginning in a way, but that's probably obvious. Grace here is needed for something later, she has to serve a purpose.
I haven't completely decided if it's better to speed up the story and then have a second goal, or too make it take awhile, or to follow more of my original plans. I know what the end will be like, it's just the steps in-between.
