Pulse 151 by lightfootcomics Pulse 151 by lightfootcomics
It's late into update day, but here's the page. I also altered some of the dialog on last week's page. I didn't think it was clear enough.

I've been trying something new with inking the last two pages, but I'm not sure it's obvious (which could be a good thing or a bad thing). I'm trying to have more size variation in the brush related to pressure. I had limited it before when I was learning to use the tablet thinking it could be a complication.

Yay, science.

It took me several minutes to guess that the blob on her legs in panel three is her shoe. Still not sure, given her posture. But perhaps most glance right over it. As A Hussie used to explain, the reading experience of 90% of the audience (those reading in the future) is quite different from the staccato engagement of those consuming concurrently. Her disheveled hair/expression in panel four, though, is spot on.

So she discharged all her energy so why haven't her body reverted back to normal?

She used up all her energy zapping Zoe as well, and didn't change back.

Which body she has affects what is her power level, but her power level doesn't change her body.  If she has her natural body (for more than a few seconds), her power level goes back to what it once was.  But with this body, she doesn't change just because her power is gone.

Maybe I should better explain it in the comic.

I assume why she changed is that her body didn't have enough mass to contain this amount of energy.  So her body grew in the easiest way possible- to trigger a growth spurt.

Ah ok. Well it wasn't clear until you just explained it. And so basically her body is still
adjusting to the energy in her body and her body adapts so all the energy have room
in her body? Sounds a bit funny imo but it makes sense at the same time. So if her energy
level increases her body will adapt as in growing to make sure all the energy fits into her body?
So can her energy or power or whatever you prefer to call it increases do that mean her body
will adjust to make room for it? And if her power level increases can she drain a sertin amount
of energy to keep her body from adjusting or will it automatically adjust to make room for
the new energy/power level?

Her body grew to allow her to hold more energy.  I'd think she only grew once.  Aside from her bouncing between bodies, any appearance of growth since is just style changes and/or inconsistency.

It's possible that if her maximum charge increased that her body wouldn't change.  Tabitha's charge increased a lot, but she didn't change.  It might not be a exact thing.  Although Annie and Tabitha's situations are different.

It may have been something they couldn't count on happening again.  That maybe she was at the right age (and hadn't completely stopped growing), or right genetics, or something.  I suspect if they tried filling them full of energy again, an alternate conclusion would be that they'd become more energy than mass (kind of like it turned them into energy).  I doubt there will be a desire to try to add more energy to them though, it's more likely there would be easier gains in improving the power-consumption of their suits.

They probably can prevent themselves from absorbing energy, either that they can choose to absorb or not, or that they'd have to expel it as it's entering their bodies.

The reason why I didn't really give a good explanation in the comic is that I wasn't sure how they would be able to have a theory.  I have thought about hinting at it, like a flashback where someone comments that all of the batteries are women, and they are all busty- then showing Annie overhearing that she wasn't busty.  Another thought is a villain who will be an older version of them, who might be really fat.  Another is the other six batteries who have suits.  Any small ones may have have something similar happen.

Yeah but like all humans everybody is different and different situations affect different humans differently. Like when some women gain weight it ends up on there butt and thighs
So how they appear and where the energy gets stored could be different from person to person.

I like this page, artistically. Whatever your doing with the size variation in the brush works well.

Also, overall, Annie looks more consistently proportionately accurate for this whole page (except for the very thin arms but that's a relatively minor nitpick). Very nice! Good angles as well.

Great job on this one.

An entire scene with nothing broken and no snarky comments? I think that might be a first for the comic. =)

That scientist looks very frowny. Hopefully there's nothing for her to be worried about.

I'd think Dr. Mae is just concerned for Annie having to go through all these tests.
