(As anyone who had ever read the older version of Pulse that this replaces, Lucy had artificial legs. But there was never any explanation why.)

I considered having this the event where Lucy lost her legs, and it would have been the most dramatic option, but I thought that it would be too emotional and complicated to happen in the middle of everything else.

If it had happened now, what are the odds that she'd ever be able to be friends with any of them? It's probably better that it's something from the past that has had the chance to be resolved.

I never previously had an explanation for the legs. She was one of the original characters designed but didn't appear for years. When she did appear, I changed her up a little. But I do have an backstory now about her legs, but it's not going to come up for a while. There are some other things that need to be introduced as part of the explanation.
